Measure:
Click the "Measure" tool.  A red box appears around the icon  to show that it is enabled and "Measure" is displayed in the lower left corner of the window indicating that it is the active tool.
Position the cursor at the beginning of the line to be measured. Click a point.
Move the cursor to the end point.  The length of the segment (in feet) is displayed in the upper left of the map display area.
Click another point to add this segment to the total and continue measuring additional segments.  As each segment is measured, a red line will be drawn and the Total distance updated.
To clear the measured segments from the map display and start measuring another set of lines, select the "Clear Selection" tool , followed by the "Measure" tool .
